2006 Survey

Sponsoring Groups

Welcome to the Nevada Teaching and Learning Conditions Survey.

Although business leaders have long recognized and responded to connections between employee working conditions and productivity, many schools still struggle to assess and address critical components of school climate. As a result, teachers often are isolated in their classrooms, face overwhelming non-instructional duties, have limited opportunities for collaboration and meaningful decision making, lack basic instructional materials, and perceive few opportunities for advancement and growth. Recent research shows that the design, leadership, and culture of schools have a direct influence on student learning and teacher retention.

It is with this in mind that the Clark County School District and the Clark County Education Association are sponsoring this survey on teaching and learning conditions, not only for Clark County educators but other districts in Nevada. These districts want to hear from you. This survey will provide you the opportunity to share your perceptions on issues critical to your effectiveness and student success. And it will not become just another report; the information will help drive school improvement planning, faculty conversations and assistance in efforts to improve school climate. As Clark County Superintendent Rulffes says, “We are most interested in hearing from you and we ask that you participate in the survey so we can make teaching in our district as effective and rewarding as possible.”

So let your voice be heard and as John Jasonek, Executive Director of the Clark County Education Associaition says, “reshape the future of generations of teachers to come.”

If you have any questions about the teaching and learning initiative or problems with survey (accessing the instrument, lost code, etc.) please call a special help desk at 1-800-526-9072. If you would like to learn more about teacher working conditions and ways to improve them in your school, please visit www.teacherworkingconditions.org. You will be directed to that website upon submission of the survey.

The survey has been concluded for this year. Thank you everyone for your participation and hard work to make this a success!
